’21 Sweetheart Run

Our annual Sweetheart Run takes place in 2 weeks! This is the 6th time we are holding this event, even though the club is only 3 years old. We started running this event in 2016 when we were part of the Hawaii Region, the 8th oldest Region in PCA.

Our Sweetheart Run this month starts in Waikoloa Village Shopping Center at 10:00. There you can get breakfast, gas, bathrooms, and camaraderie with about 40 of your fellow PCA members, of course, masked and socially distanced! After signing up and having our safety meeting, we will leave around 10:30 and head up the hill to Mamalahoa Highway, turn West towards Kona, and then upon Daniel K Inouye Highway, the new Saddle Road, until we reach Mauna Kea Park at 6,500 feet, where we can use the restrooms and have a photo op with our ladies and their roses.
Every lady gets a rose! For those of you who don’t have a partner with you, extra roses will be available so you can bring one home to your Sweetheart. We have you covered. For this reason, we ask you to contact us and let us know how many are coming so we have enough roses prepared. Around 11:30 we will leave to go back down the hill, this time taking the twisty, curvy Waiki’i Ranch Road back down to Mamalahoa Highway, Route 190, and then turning East to Waimea town. Once in Waimea we will head West on Kawaihae Road, Route 19, and turn right onto the Upper Kohala Mountain Road, Route 250.
We will reassemble in front of the HPA Campus before continuing on this challenging and beautiful ride past Kahua Ranch to Kapa’au around 12:30. Once down to the end of the road, we turn South on the Akoni Pule Highway Route 270 along the Kohala Coast, full of splashing whales, until we reach Kawaihae and Harbor Gallery, Porsche Headquarters for our club on the Big Island with t-shirts, pins. key fobs, patches, car badges, and recent issues of Porsche Panorama, which all seem to feature our club in the section called “From the Regions”.
Thank you Webmaster Andreas Kottschoth for keeping us in the limelight!
Our final stop is lunch on your own at Seafood Bar, about 1:30, about 200 yards away, with a diverse menu of local seafood, steak, burgers, and a full bar. Ample parking and friendly service await.

Again, let us know how many are coming so we can prepare! Contact Tour Director, Dr. Mark Senft, at tours@bih.pca.org or call him at 808-936-3338, or reply to Gunner Mench at president@bih.pca.org or call at 808-938-2954.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day a day early with your fellow Porsche Club Members!
