President — Gunner Mench
Elli and I currently own 16 Porsches, with 12 on the road and 4 needing full restoration. The newest is a 2006 Cayenne S and the rest are 1989 and prior, with the oldest being a 1963 356 B Super that has made the climb from Sea Level to nearly 14,000 feet atop Mauna Kea 4 times. I joined the PCA in 2013 as a member of the Hawaii Region. All I drive is Porsche, that’s all I own, and all I care to drive. I frequently loan out some of my classic Porsches for other PCA members to drive, especially if they are members of Zone 11, Hawaii, and Alaska! Gunner is also the Region Historian, Membership Chair, Dealership Liaison, Social Media Chair

Board Member — Bill Hughes
Board Member at Large
Bill’s passion for Porsches began in his youth. He started with a ’67 912, then a ’69 911 T, and currently enjoys cruising the Big Island in his gold 1980 928. He has been serving as a Board Member at Large for the past couple years, and is now serving as BIH’s Membership Chair. Bill moved to the Big Island in March of 2004, and brought his beloved “Gold Streak” with him from his former home in Simi Valley, California. His previous careers included 20 years with the 7 Up Bottling Company, Southern California, and he followed that with 18 years as VP, Planning and Development, of a 4th generation movie theatre circuit, Metropolitan Theatres. He spent his early retirement years on the Island as a volunteer for Destination Kona Coast, offering advice and information to visiting cruise ship passengers. Today he prefers taking his own advice on where to travel to get the most enjoyment out of our Island. His 10-year old granddaughter (“Bailey,” known to many of our members) enjoys visiting Poppa from the mainland as often as she can — and particularly loves going along on the Driving Tours.
Board Member — Rémy Striebig
Rémy Striebig’s love for Porsches and auto racing began in his home country of France. As a teen and young adult, Rémy worked in the pit crew at the 24-Hour Le Mans and built race cars for Le Mans when his father (a fourteen-time La Mans driver) raced there. In his 20s, Rémy joined the family transportation business, Striebig Autocars, which at its height had 900-plus employees, and where he ultimately became the CEO/President until the companies sale in 2014. In his 30s, in his free time Rémy began amateur auto racing, spanning almost 25 years and culminating with the 24-Hour Le Mans race in 2016, in which he drove an LMP 2(Morgan body chassis with a V-8 engine and 650 hp). Rémy’s racing career spanned across Europe and included Formula Renault, Formula 3, and prototype endurance cars. In 2012–2016 Rémy began his racing team, Team One, in which he raced and also trained and coached other auto racers. Rémy also raced extensively in the Austria Formula Renault Cup and in the VDV European Championships. Rémy now lives in north Kohala where he and his wife Shawna own an organic macadamia nut and tropical fruit farm. In his spare time Rémy restores his two 1977 Porsche 911s.

Zone 11 Representative — Gary Glover
Gary has always had a passion for cars. Especially German Cars. When it was time for a sports car, he had three choices. TR-6, Datsun 240Z or Porsche 914. The obvious answer, a 1972 914 1.7 and thus began a long passion for Porsche. With marriage and raising a family, the 914 became a past memory. In 1998, Gary borrowed a 911 SC and attended a PCA weekend getaway. The “bug “ was still in the blood and within a month, a Chiffon White 1982 911SC was in the garage. Membership with Vancouver Island Region of PCA followed. He has held numerous positions in VIS. Mid-Island Director, Newsletter, 7 year term as President, Treasurer, Past President. Twice “Enthusiast of the Year”. In 2004, the ’82 911SC was upgraded to a pristine ’92 964 C2. More creature comforts was one of the reasons. In 2010, Gary was invited to attend the Porsche World Road Show. Another seed was planted. Within three months the 964 was replaced by a ‘06 Cayman S. Gary’s passion is driving. Since 1998 he surpassed 400,000 km in his three Porsches. He has attended seven Parades, entering concours. During the winter months, Gary is in his mancave/garage, cleaning, waxing and dreaming of upcoming adventures. Gary worked for 36 years in the British Columbia Coastal Forest Industry with an International Company and 7 years as Safety Manager for a Construction Company. Gary is looking forward to the position of Zone 11 Rep, meeting PCA members and nurturing the PCA culture.
