Let’s welcome our many new members since the first of the year.
We want to extend a warm welcome to our newest primary members and their families and spouses, the latest being Ken Kindt, from Kona, who just acquired a 2018 718 Cayman in Guards Red and couldn’t wait to join and go with us on our Driving Tours. Karen Furtado joins us from Hilo with her 2013 black Panamera S. Kris Liddle joined our club from Oahu where he has a few wild Porsches with his wife, Ellen, who is the former President of the Hawaii club. His hot rod 2005 Boxster S in Carmon Red is a screamer with many upgrades! Ryan Pettit from Waimea rejoins us with his 2007 911 Carrera Cabriolet and just got his new Cayenne Turbo, which I am dying to see!
Alan Thal from Hawi hosted a stop on our last Tour at his huge spread, with ample parking for future events where he can join us with his freshly detailed silver 2003 Boxster. Mike Davis transferred into us from Oregon Region but also has a home in Sunset Beach, California. He brought his 2008 silver Turbo 911 Turbo Cabriolet to enjoy in the sunshine of our little heaven in the Pacific. And lastly, for our newest members, Tom Lee joins us with his 1993 911 C2 Targa in black.
We are blessed to have these new members among us as we continue to grow and mature as a club on this speed bump in the middle of the Pacific! There are so many new Porsches on the island now with so many new homeowners moving here from the West Coast especially. Stop them and let them know about our club!
Don’t forget we have our next driving tour, the Spring Fling, on Saturday April 10th, starting in Waikoloa Shopping Center at 10, driving along the Hamakua Coast with a really cool stop along the way, and ending in Hilo around 2 for lunch. Watch for further details!
I apologize that this has been such a busy time for me at work, thankfully, and Harbor Gallery, your unofficial club headquarters, has been blessed with a tremendous amount of business this year being one of the lucky businesses that has survived the shutdowns and restrictions due to the Covid virus, with over 50% of all Hawaii businesses closing their doors during this challenging time. And your Porsche club has been active as well through all of this, being that we are in one of the safest places on the planet!
Keep smiling and keep your Porsches shiny!
Aloha, Gunner Mench, President, BIH
