Spring Fling Big Island Hawaii

We are survivors in the most beautiful, healthy place on the planet!

Let’s go out and celebrate with our annual Spring Fling, and visit the whole island on a Circle Island Tour!

OUR TOUR WILL BE HELD NEXT WEEKEND ON SATURDAY, MAY 23 RD STARTING AT 8 A.M. AT OLD KONA AIRPORT. THIS IS A NINE HOUR TOUR IF YOU COMPLETE THE ENTIRE JOURNEY FROM START TO FINISH.

Considering all regulations regarding Social Distancing, Wearing face masks, and all the rest of the current regulations, we will conduct ourselves to the highest standards of public safety, decency, and courtesy as we complete this Circle Island Tour.

The event will start gathering at 8 a.m. and leave by going directly uphill to the main highway and proceeding Southward, or counter-clockwise around the island.

As we have done before, you can join and leave the group along the way, but you need to have the release signed when you join at specific places as we stop, and your coverage ends when you either deviate from the route, leave the route, or the event ends.

Starting and finishing point will be Old Kona Airport. We will travel the main highway only, Routes 11, 19, and 190 to complete the Tour. Time for the entire sojourn as we did last year is about 9 hours with stops and breaks, 276 miles approximately.
– Stops will be at Ocean View at the Supermarket/gas station, Volcano location to be announced,
– Puainako Town Center next to KTA and in front of Hiro’s Place, and
– KTA Shopping Center in Waimea where restrooms and refreshments are also available.
You should prepare your vehicle with a full tank of gas, and Costco is again open early at regular hours with the best price for gas on the island.

Food at this point will be up to each individual to provide unless we can establish a take out location along the way that is open. There will be water and snacks available as usual, and we are checking to see which public facilities are open for restrooms. Many of these were closed last month, but things are starting to open.

Don’t forget your masks!!! LET’S GET OUT AND DRIVE AND HAVE SOME FUN!

Aloha, Gunner Mench, President, PCA BIH.
